Coding Audit Tool

Endorsed and marketed by the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), B Sharp's Coding Audit Tool (CAT) provides a means by which patient abstract data submitted, or intended for submission to the Canadian Institute of Health Information (CIHI) may be analyzed for accuracy/quality via an easy-to-use web based re-abstract and compare process.

CAT provides data quality analysts with the ability to upload/decode CIHI approved files (initially for  Discharge Abstract Data (DAD) and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS) data), setup data quality studies by selecting charts manually or randomly (accommodates both targeted and general approaches), assign re-abstractors to the study, then perform and track re-abstracts and analyze results comparisons complete with discrepancy and reason code information.

Our clients have found that CAT improves the accuracy of chart abstractions and achieves an objective that fits well with other initiatives aimed at overall improvements in Canadian Healthcare.  CAT is easily implemented in any facility and is suitable for both local and central distribution/management at hospital, regional, or provincial levels.
